Update (3 June): Registration for Qiskit Global Summer School 2025 is now closed due to high demand.
If you weren't able to register in time for QGSS 2025, we hope to see you next year. In the meantime, IBM offers a range of learning resources for anyone interested in quantum computing. Be sure to visit IBM Quantum Learning and explore the other educational resources on IBM Quantum Platform for more.
In 1925, German physicist Werner Heisenberg published the first formal mathematical framework for quantum mechanics — the physical theory that describes the behavior of subatomic particles. This framework quickly led to the development of groundbreaking technologies like transistors, lasers, electron microscopes, magnetic resonance imaging, and, of course, quantum computing. Now, 100 years later, the United Nations is celebrating the impact quantum theory has had in shaping our modern world by naming 2025 the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology, and we’re joining the fun.
We are thrilled to announce that registration is now open for Qiskit Global Summer School 2025: The Past, Present, and Future of Quantum Computing. In honor of the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology, the 2025 summer school program will invite participants to explore the evolution of quantum technologies — from foundational concepts to recent breakthroughs — and will also offer a glimpse at the fast-approaching future of fault-tolerant quantum computing. Whether you're just starting your quantum journey or are already a seasoned Qiskit user, there’s something in this year’s program for everyone.
The 2025 Qiskit Global Summer School program will feature fourteen online lectures led by IBM Quantum experts and interactive labs that enable hands-on exploration of key quantum concepts. Students will also get the chance to participate in live Q&A sessions with course instructors, as well as distinguished guest lectures from leaders in quantum computing research. As always, our dedicated Discord server will enable real-time support and collaboration with the broader Qiskit Global Summer School community.
Over the course of twelve days, students will progress from core quantum computing concepts to advanced techniques and forward-looking applications. The curriculum was carefully designed by the IBM Quantum education team to cover both essential theory and hands-on execution.

In week one, you’ll dive into foundational topics ranging from the history of quantum mechanics to the most essential quantum algorithms. In week two, the focus shifts to topics that sit on the cutting edge of quantum computing research today, such as hardware benchmarking, quantum error correction, and advanced quantum diagonalization algorithms — which are promising candidates for near-term quantum advantage.
The summer school program will conclude with two live panel discussions on careers in quantum and the future of the field, providing students with the opportunity to hear directly from industry experts about the challenges ahead and the innovations that are driving quantum computing forward.
Are you looking to learn quantum computing from world class experts in the field? Are you eager to connect with a global community of quantum learners? Would you like to have access to state-of-the-art quantum hardware and software, along with all the resources you need to support your learning journey? Then we hope you’ll join us in exploring the past, present, and future of quantum computing—together.
