A novel architectural framework for developing flexible, adaptive and dynamically configurable directory services is discussed. The framework is competent to meet the requirements of next-generation computer systems. The directory service addresses functional requirements such as storing the mapping and nonfunctional requirements such as fault-tolerant and dynamic load balancing through migration and replication. The new model is more scalable as it handles updates more efficiently.
