The complex nature of drop formation in drop-on-demand ink jet is extremely difficult to analyze. Thus far only a few reports can be identified in this area of study. However, due to the nature of the numerical solution, the fundamental physics of drop formation in terms of key parametric dependency is not explicitly revealed. In dealing with the same problem of drop formation, our objective is to study the first-order phenomena directly relating to breaking-off of a drop from a drop-on-demand ink jet nozzle. Our approach is basically analytical using practical assumptions in meniscus boundary conditions.
