Business protocols in n-party interactions often require centralized protocol design but decentralized execution without the intervention of the designing party. In this paper, we tackle the problem for RosettaNet PIPs by creating a BPEL solution. We do so using a three-level approach, based on BPEL, for defining such protocols: templating for high-level patterns, specialization for particular protocols, and implementation for particular realizations of a protocol. © 2006 Elsevier B.V.
