Properties of a paramagnetic polaron in a magnetic semiconductor are studied theoretically. It is shown that the paramagnetic polaron appears discontinuously for decreasing temperature with nearly saturated 4f{hook} spin moments within it. It is estimated that, even in EuSe, a stable magnetic polaron is unlikely to exist. © 1970.
