AKA "Dr. Steve". I was inducted into the Mainframe Hall of Fame in 2017 for my career contributions to the IBM Mainframe in the area of I/O technology.
Recognized worldwide expert focused on IBM mainframe, mainframe storage, I/O performance and networking. Unparalleled skill set of extremely deep (PhD level) technical subject matter expertise coupled with superb business acumen and industry knowledge.
I am a US Navy Officer combat veteran with an extensive graduate level education. I have a PhD and MS in Management Information Systems. I also have an MBA and a BS in Economics from Northwestern University. My doctoral dissertation was on IBM Mainframe ESCON to FICON migration. My Master's Thesis was on migrating from direct attached storage (DAS) to Storage Area Networks.
In addition to my academic writing, I have written 3 books, and over 50 published papers and articles in industry journals, magazines and conference proceedings.
I have served on both the SHARE and Computer Measurement Group Boards of Directors.
I am a Senior Member of both the IEEE and ACM.
