Gyana comes with over 28 years of experience in the field of technology and research. In his current role, he leads a team of consultants, developers, and researchers in developing and delivering innovative Collaborative AI technology powered AI Workflow offerings as well as addressing the unique transformational challenges faced by global Finance and Supply Chain (FSCT) customers.

Gyana has been on the current role since August 2020, prior to which he was in research leadrship roles in Business Analytics and Mathematical Sciences department in IBM Research (at the Thomas J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown, New York, and at the India Research Lab, New Delhi) where he led and managed several business analytics, optimization and AI projects centering around business decision-making under uncertainty. Gyana joined IBM in 1994 after obtaining a doctorate in Industrial Engineering (with a specialization in Operations Research) from the Texas A&M University. He has made significant contributions in the development of integer programming and stochastic integer programming technologies while being part of long running projects at IBM. Over the course of his research and consulting career, he has worked in several applied areas including supply chain management, asset-liability management, corporate learning, infrastructure lease restructuring, strategic budgeting for disaster management resources, smarter workforce, and most recently, has successfully incubated a research and development agenda in the area of Collaborative AI.

Gyana has been very active in the academic research community. He has more than 50 journal/conference papers, and over 20 US patents granted.  He was appointed into ACM's Distinguished Speaker Program in October 2016. He serves as an Adjunct Faculty (teaching advanced AI) at the Indian Institute of Technology in Bhubaneswar.
