Mihaela A Bornea           

I am a research scientist at IBM Research AI and I work in the Question Answering  and Information Retrieval team.  My research includes Multilingual Reading Comprehension, Knowledge Base Question Answering and Boolean Question Answering.  I contribute to the  IBM GAMMA QA system, currently on the first place on the Minimal Answer Task on the TyDiQA Leaderboard.

I was previously a research staff member in the Healthcare and Life Sciences group at IBM working on NLP in the medical domain.  My contributions are in the area of  Information Extraction, in particular Entity Linking and Relation Extraction for electronic medical record summarization and drug repurposing. 

I often serve as a program committee member in top NLP and AI conferences including EMNLP, ACL, IJCAI, AAAI.

I co-chaired a round table at WiML NeurIPS 2020 on "NLP for Helping Combat COVID-19"
