I joined IBM in 2012 as a postdoc and since 2015 I am an RSM in the AI Research for Industries and Services group of the Cognitive Computing and Industry Solutions department. My interests mainly revolve around explainable and robust AI (in particular deep learning models), as well as predictive analytics.
Nowadays, I spend my time working on performance anomaly detection, deep embedding clustering for temporal data, and explainability and robustness of DNNs for predictive maintenance.
I graduated with a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETHZ) in September 2012. My supervisors were Prof. Gustavo Alonso and Prof. Timothy Roscoe, from the Systems Group. Prior to that, in 2008 I got my Eng. degree in Computer Science from the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania.
During my Ph.D., I was a summer intern at IBM T.J. Watson, in the Middleware and Virtualization Management group and worked on efficient placement algorithms for distributed applications in large data centers.
Most recently, I have served as a reviewer for EDBT, Eurosys, VLDB, Middleware, ICDCS, JISA, IJSNET, JNCA, Software: Practice and Experience, ACM MobileSoft and GHC.
