Dr. Nick Fuller currently serves as the Vice President of AI and Automation at IBM Research. In this role, he leads a dynamic global team dedicated to creating and delivering LLM and Agent-based innovation for enterprise management software spanning a range of domains and data modalities, inclusive of technology delivery in the open, for internal functions and to IBM product units. His expertise in management software spans business functions (back and front-office), IT systems, code modernization and asset management, encompassing text, code, timeseries and image data modalities. Nick has 20+ years of client-facing experience, culminating in differentiation of IBM’s IT Automation portfolio, launch of new modernization products for IBM and Red Hat, and implementation of IBM full-stack edge computing research strategy. Additionally, his strategic foresight has also played a pivotal role in differentiating five successive CMOS generations, catering to the evolving needs of IBM Systems and OEM clients,
Nick has patented 75 patents, co-authored 80 technical publications and been cited on over 3500 occasions. Additionally, as a recognized thought leader, he routinely provides commentary on industry trends in prestigious outlets such as ProjectPro, The Deep View, TechRadar Pro, and Forbes. A native of Trinidad and Tobago, Nick received his Bachelor of Science in Physics and Math from Morehouse College (’97) and his Ph.D. in Applied Physics from Columbia University (’02). He lives in Long Island, New York with his wife and two sons and in his personal time loves playing soccer, listening to music, travelling, and writing. He is the author of Struggle and Progress.
