Bio

Dr. Pritish Parida is a Senior Research Scientist at IBM Research. He is currently the co-PI of IBM-ARPA-E program on Systems Two-phase cooling (DE-AR0001577), chair of The Green Grid's ITE-Energy Efficiency Metric Workgroup and collaboration manager for IBM Research's academic relationship program with Columbia University. He has extensive experience in the development of cutting-edge thermal technologies including chip-embedded two-phase cooling, for high performance computing systems and embedded applications such as UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles), RF (radio frequency), and 5G devices. His expertise includes thermo-fluids engineering, mechanical engineering, numerical methods, numerical computer simulation programs, signal processing, mathematical algorithms, real-time system control and monitoring and visualization programs. His past research activities also includes aggregation and processing of multi-sensor multi-time scale data to analyze cardiac and mobility behavior, advancement of fundamental understanding of chronic pain in patients with failed back surgery syndrome, characterization of therapeutic effectiveness of implanted spinal cord stimulation waveforms over multiple timescales, development of a system to assist patients in reducing their pain, while also improving their quality-of-life and co-executing clinical studies/sub-studies to evaluate system effectiveness.

He obtained his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech. Dr. Parida has received several technical and innovation awards at IBM as well as outside including Outstanding Technical Achievement Award (2016, 2021, 2022), Outstanding Research Award (2021), Research Division Award (2012, 2016, 2021, 2024), Outstanding Technical Paper Award (ITherm 2012, ITherm 2017), Best Paper Award (SEMI-Therm 2017), Best Poster Award (GOMACTech 2017). Dr. Parida has co-authored over 60 peer-reviewed publications, three book chapters, and holds over 100 issued patents.
